California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)

Current Reporting Requirement(s):
All investor-owned utilities in California (6) are required to prepare annual system reliability reports, which assess SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI, and MAIFI performance on both system-wide and division levels. Index data must also be presented separately for the distribution and transmission levels, with Major Event Day (MED) outages both included and excluded. Several line charts showing historical trends in index performance are also required. Each utility must also identify its top 1% “Worst Performing Circuits,” along with an explanation of how that determination is made. The CPUC has imposed particular additional requirements on individual utilities. A template is provided by CPUC for report production.
