Reliability Initiative

To educate, encourage awareness, and create dialog on the changing nature of reliability.

The Electric Reliability Initiative seeks to elevate the dialogue as well as broaden participation in the conversation about the changing nature of reliability in the current electricity transition. It does so by helping those with less knowledge to gain enough of an understanding to comprehend the electric reliability challenges of the transition underway, and thus be better prepared to give useful input in both a coherent and productive way. At the same time this Initiative intends to provide a deeper dive (on certain key topics) for those who either want or need more detail, and to encourage more input from experts as well. The initiative provides a forum for the exchange and discussion of ideas – for which current discussion all too often occurs in the polarized environment of regulatory proceedings. The purpose is to enable the development of more common ground that will ultimately inform the policy makers and stakeholders participating in the energy transformation about the realities of reliability and its challenges.
